Countries adopt a federal system of government primarily to address issues such as ethnic diversity or the fear of domination of minorities by a majority group. In a federal system, power is shared between the central government and regional or state governments, which helps to prevent any single group from monopolizing power and ensures that different regions or ethnic groups have a degree of autonomy in governance. This is especially important in multi-ethnic, multi-lingual, or diverse societies.
