The physical appearance of an organism is described as its phenotype. A phenotype refers to the observable characteristics of an organism, including its physical traits, which are determined by its genotype (genetic makeup) and can be influenced by environmental factors. 

Genotype is the genetic makeup of an organism or person, which is determined by their DNA sequence. It can also refer to the alleles, or variant forms of a gene, that an organism has.
