In the Hausa pre-colonial political system, the Emir was the central figure who held both spiritual and political authority. The Emir was responsible for governing the state, implementing laws, leading military campaigns and acting as the spiritual leader of the community. Other officials like the Madawaki, Galadima, and Waziri held important roles in the administration, but the ultimate power resided with the Emir.
