The Lyttleton Constitution was enacted in 1954 and it established the federal system of government and paved the way for independence.
This constitution is considered the start of federalism, as it provided for a division of power between the central government and the regions, unlike the Richards constitution that created provinces/regions, with no autonomy being given to the regions.
