records the highest number of votes cast
obtains a two-thirds majority of the votes cast
obtains one-third of the votes cast
scors the aggregates of the opponent

In a first-past-the-post electoral system, a candidate is declared when he records the highest number of votes cast. This system is also know as plurality system or simple majority. In this elected candidate must secure majority of the votes cast.
