The Ibadan Conference of 1950 was convened to discuss the provisions of the Macpherson Constitution. Sir John Macphereson became Government of Nigeria in 1948. He then took immediate steps to review Sir Arthur Richard's Constitution of 1946 and fashioned a new constitution which came into being in 1951.
