The apparent weight of a body wholly immersed in water is 32N and its weight in air is 96N. Calculate the volume of the body. (Density of water = 1000kgm-3, g = 10ms\(^{-2}\))
8.9 x 10-3m3
6.4 x 10-3m3
3.2 x 10-3m3
3.0 x 10-3m3
Explanation
Apparent weight = 32N
Real weight = 96N
Density of water = 1000\(kgm^{-3}\)
acceleration (g) = 10\(ms^{-2}\)
Upthrust = Real weight - Apparent weight
⇒ 96N - 32N = 64N
ρ be the density of liquid and 'V ' be the volume of the body and we know that upthrust force F = ρVg
V = \(\frac{F}{ρg}\) = \(\frac{64}{1000 \times10}\) = 6.4 x 10\(^{-3}m^3\)
