WAEC - Mathematics (2024 - No. 26)

The length and breadth of a cuboid are 15 cm and 8 cm respectively. If the volume of the cuboid is 1560 cm\(^3\), calculate the total surface area.
976cm\(^2\)
838cm\(^2\)
792cm\(^2\)
746cm\(^2\)

Explanation

Volume of a cuboid = LBH = 1560cm\(^2\)

 V = 15 x 8 x H = 1560

H = \(\frac{1560}{15 \times 8}\) = 13cm

Total surface area of a cuboid = 2(LB + LH + BH)

 = 2((15 x 8) + ( 15 x 13) + ( 8 x 13))

= 2(120 + 195 + 104) = 2(419) = 838 cm\(^2\)
