During the 1964 Federal elections in Nigeria, the Eastern Region experienced a total boycott of voting. This was due to political unrest and the dissatisfaction of the Eastern Region's leaders under the umbrella of the National Convention of Nigerian Citizens (NCNC), with the conduct of the election and the political situation at the time.
