The direct result is that members of the church became honest.  Acts 5:11 (RSV) mentions "great fear came upon the whole church". The fear and reverence that the incident instilled in the church community contributed to a sense of order and seriousness about the consequences of dishonesty or hypocrisy within the early Christian fellowship.
