Naboth was falsely charged with cursing God and the king after the proclamation to proclaim a fast and set him on high among the people. This incident is recorded in 1 Kings 21, where King Ahab desired Naboth's vineyard, but Naboth refused to sell or exchange it as it was his family inheritance. Jezebel, Ahab's wife, then plotted to have Naboth falsely accused and stoned to death thereby clearing the way for Ahab to take possession of the vineyard.
