In the Book of Nehemiah, Nehemiah, upon hearing about the condition of Jerusalem, prayed to God for favour before approaching King Artaxerxes to seek permission and resources to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem. It was through prayer and God's intervention that Nehemiah gained favour in the eyes of the king. This is detailed in Nehemiah 1:4-11 and Nehemiah 2:1-8.
