What will happen if more heat is applied to the following system at equilibrium? X2(g) + 3Y 2(g) ⇌ 2XY3(g); ∆H =-kJmol -1
the yield of XY 3 will decompose
more of XY3 will decompose
More of X2 will react
the forward reaction will go to completion

Explanation

If more heat is applied to an exothermic reaction in equilibrium, it means temperature is increased, this will however, cause the equilibrium shift to the left. This means the product will decompose to produce more of the reactants on the LHS. i.e XY\(_3\) will decompose.
