Mathematics for IGCSE & O level - Similarity (Section 2 - No. 29)

The area of a rug is 2.4 times as large as the area of a similar rug. If the length of the smaller rug is 1.6m, find the length of the larger rug.
2.47m
1.6m
1.96m
3.84m

Explanation

The length scale factor is sqrt(2.4) therefore the length of the larger rug will be 1.6 x sqrt(2.4) = 2.47 m.
