Mathematics for IGCSE & O level - Probability (Section 7 - No. 36)
Two dice are rolled. What is the probability of rolling a 6 on one die and a 1 on the other? (Assume the dice rolls are independent)
1/36
1/12
1/6
1/2
Explanation
P(6 on first die) * P(1 on second die) + P(1 on first die) * P(6 on second die) = (1/6)*(1/6) + (1/6)*(1/6) = 1/36 + 1/36 = 2/36 = 1/18. But the answer is only 1/12
