Mathematics for IGCSE & O level - Mensuration (Section 7 - No. 34)

A solid cone has base radius of 5.3 cm and a height of 6.1 cm. Calculate the total surface area of a hemisphere with radius 7.1 cm and diameter 4.7 cm.
330.3 cm²
287.6 cm²
264.2 cm²
340.5 cm²

Explanation

Surface area = 2πr² + πr²= 3πr². Therefore 3 * π * (7.1)² = 475 cm². In this case, diameter = diameter/2. Surface Area ≈ 3π(diameter/2)²= 3π(2.35)²= 52 cm²
