Effective circuit becomes

Current through battery $=\frac{V}{\mathrm{R}_{\mathrm{eq}}}=\frac{12 \mathrm{~V}}{4 \Omega}=3 \mathrm{~A}$
where $\mathrm{R}_{\mathrm{eq}}=3$ resistors in parallel.
