JEE MAIN - Physics (2020 - 6th September Evening Slot - No. 19)

In the figure shown, the current in the 10 V battery is close to :
0.36 A from negative to positive terminal
0.42 A from positive to negative terminal
0.71 A from positive to negative terminal
0.21 A from positive to negative terminal

Explanation

Apply Kirchhoff’s Current Law at junction A,

$${{x - \left( { - 20} \right)} \over 7} + {{x - \left( { - 10} \right)} \over 4} + {{x - 0} \over {10}}$$ = 0

$$ \Rightarrow $$ x = $$ - {{1500} \over {138}}$$ = -10.87 V

Current through 10 v,

i = $${{ - 10.87 - \left( { - 10} \right)} \over 4}$$ = - 0.21 A

As sign of current is negative so it will flow from positive to negative terminal.
