The total pressure when both the solids dissociated simultaneously is -
(x + y) atm
$$\left( {\sqrt {x + y} } \right)$$ atm
2$$\left( {\sqrt {x + y} } \right)$$ atm
x2 + y2 atm
Explanation
_12th_January_Morning_Slot_en_1_4.png)
Kp1 = P1(P1 + P2)
Kp2 = P2(P1 + P2)
$$ \therefore $$ Kp1 + Kp2 = (P1 + P2)2
$$ \Rightarrow $$ x + y = (P1 + P2)2
$$ \Rightarrow $$ (P1 + P2) = $$\sqrt {x + y} $$ .....(1)
Now total pressure
PT = PC + PB + PE
= (P1 + P2) + P1 + P2
= 2(P1 + P2)
= $$2\sqrt {x + y} $$ [From equation (1)]
