Explanation



In LiAlH4, H- is the attacking species which is a strong nucleophile and performs both nucleophilc substitution and nucleophilic addition reaction. In C = C, pi bond is created by pure p orbital with side by side overlapping which create $$\pi $$ cloud and $$\pi $$ cloud creates negative charge around it. As H- is also negative charged so LiAlH4 can't reduce C = C.
