Find the values of x which satisfy the equation 16x - 5 x 4x + 4 = 0
1 and 4
-2 and 2
0 and 1
-1 and 0

Explanation

16x - 5 x 4x + 4 = 0

(4x)2 - 5(4x) + 4 = 0

let 4x = y

y2 - 5y + 4 = 0

(y - 4)(y - 1) = 0

y = 4 or 1

4x = 4

x = 1

4x = 1

i.e. 4x = 4o, x = 0

∴ x = 1 or 0
