Deus ex machina (Latin for "god from the machine") is a dramatic technique in which a seemingly unsolvable problem or complex plot is suddenly and abruptly resolved—often by an unexpected, unlikely intervention (such as a new character, event, or device). This technique can feel artificial or forced, and it usually brings the plot to an abrupt end.
