A panegyric poem is a poem that formally praises someone or something publicly. Oumar Farouk Sesay's "The Song of the Women of My Land" is written to recognise the efforts of the women in colonial Sierra Leone. He praises them for their resilience despite the harsh and oppressive conditions that they faced.
