The greatest form of Jihad according to the Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W.) is suppressing one's selfish desires. This is often referred to as the 'greater jihad', the struggle against the lower self (nafs). The 'lesser jihad' is the physical struggle against the enemies of Islam.
