Explanation
The Presidential Election of 1993 which was supposedly meant to transfer power back to civilian rule from the hands of Ibrahim Babangida was contested by Alhaji Tofa of the NRC and Moshood K.O. Abiola of the SDP. The Armed Forces Ruling Council (AFRC) then annulled the entire exercise.
