Nigeria's non-aligned policy means that she will not take sides in international issues based on ideological considerations. This policy is part of the broader Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), which emerged during the Cold War era.  Nigeria, like other non-aligned countries, seeks to maintain independence and neutrality by not committing to any of the major ideological blocs (capitalism or communism).
