The Commonwealth of Nations is a political association of mostly former territories of the British Empire. While it operates by consensus and does not have a constitutionally binding leadership structure, it recognises a symbolic head of the Commonwealth.

• This role was traditionally held by Queen Elizabeth II, and now by King Charles III, following her passing.

• It is not automatically passed through British monarchy by law, but was reaffirmed by member states.
