Explanation
The Igbo traditional system of government was largely acephalous (without a central ruler) and was based on participatory democracy. Governance was conducted through village and town assemblies, where elders, titleholders, age grades, and other members of the community gathered to deliberate on issues and make collective decisions. Every adult male had the right to participate, making the system highly inclusive and democratic.
