The story of Cleopas and another disciple on the road to Emmaus is found in Luke 24:13–35. They met Jesus unknowingly after His resurrection. Luke 24:32 (RSV): “They said to each other, ‘Did not our hearts burn within us while he talked to us on the road, while he opened to us the scriptures?’” This clearly shows that the burning of their hearts was in response to Jesus' teaching and explanation of the Scriptures regarding Himself.
