In the Bible, God told Solomon that he would tear the kingdom from him and give it to his servant because Solomon did not keep God's covenant and statutes:

• 1 Kings 11:11-13

  "Because you have done this, and have not kept My covenant and My statutes, which I have commanded you, I will surely tear the kingdom away from you and give it to your servant".
