The second temptation of Jesus according to Luke's account of the gospel was
giving the kingdoms of the world to Jesus if He would worship the devil
a command for a stone to become bread
jumping down from the pinnacle of the temple
denying the name of God, the Father
Explanation
According to Luke 4:1–13 (RSV), the second temptation is when the devil shows Jesus all the kingdoms of the world and offers them to Him in exchange for worship.
Order of Temptations in Luke’s Gospel:
-
Turn stone into bread – Luke 4:3
-
Worship Satan in exchange for worldly kingdoms – Luke 4:5–7 ✅
-
Throw Himself down from the pinnacle of the temple – Luke 4:9–11
Luke 4:5–7 (RSV)
“And the devil took him up, and showed him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time, and said to him, ‘To you I will give all this authority and their glory; for it has been delivered to me, and I give it to whom I will. If you, then, will worship me, it shall all be yours.’”
