The biosphere is the global "zone of life" on Earth. It is the relatively thin layer where the atmosphere (air), lithosphere (land), and hydrosphere (water) interact and overlap to create conditions capable of supporting living organisms. It encompasses all ecosystems on the planet and is defined as the region on, above, and below the Earth's surface where life naturally exists.
