The Guinea savanna is a vegetation zone in Nigeria that covers more than half of the country's land area. It's characterized by short trees and tall grasses. Kwara State is located in the Northern Guinea savanna, at the southern border of the Niger River. 

Other states in the Northern Guinea Savanna include: Niger, Taraba, Kaduna, Bauchi, Benue, and Kogi.
