Bryophyte is an intermediate group between higher algae and
thallophyte
pteridophyte
spermatophyte
tracheophyte

Explanation

Bryophytes are sometimes referred to as an intermediate group between algae and vascular plants(Pteridophytes).

Bryophytes: A small group of land plants that includes liverworts, hornworts, and mosses. They are considered the most primitive group of Embryophyta, and are thought to be the first land plants. They lack vascular tissues and seeds, but produce embryos while the algae is a a group of organisms with cell walls made of cellulose, similar to bryophytes. However, algae do not divide their plant body internally into photosynthetic and storage zones, unlike bryophytes. Bryophytes produce embryos but lack seeds and vascular tissues. They are the most simple and primitive group of Embryophyta.
