In multiple myeloma, monoclonal light chains are produced from heavy chains and enter the bloodstream, receive then they are of relatively low molecular weight, they pass through glomerular membrane and appear in the urine. Those proteins chains of low molecular weight are known as Bence Jones Proteins.
