Biology for IGCSE & O level - Plant Nutrition (Section 5 - No. 46)
What is the relationship between temperature and the rate of photosynthesis?
As temperature increases, the rate always decreases.
As temperature decreases, the rate always increases.
The rate increases with temperature up to a certain point then decreases.
Temperature does not affect the rate of photosynthesis.
Explanation
Enzymes involved in photosynthesis have an optimum temperature range. Above this point, the enzymes denature, and photosynthesis slows down.
