The 1954 Lyttleton Constitution marked the beginning of formal federalism in Nigeria because it
created the posts of Governor-General at the centre and Governor in the regions
created a Council of Minister at the centre
created the posts of Prime Ministers at the centre and Premier in the regions
outlined the division of powers between the centre and regions
outlined the limits of powers of the judiciary and the Executive and Legislature
