A body on the ground is acted on by a force of 10N at a point P as shown in the fig above. What force is needed to stop the body from moving eastwards?

5N in the direction of east
5N in the diretion of west
5V3N in the direction of west
10N in the southwest direction

The horizontal (eastward) component of the 10N force is = 10 cos60

→ 10 x 0.5 = 5N. 

The equilibrant force needed to stop the body moving eastward must act in exactly the
opposite direction. 

Therefore, the needed force is 5N in the direction of West
