JAMB - Biology (2000 - No. 38)

The legs and beak of an egret resemble those of the heron because they
both feed on fishes
are both birds
occupy similar niche
occupy the same trophic level

Paaiškinimas

A trophic level is defined as the role an organism plays within a food chain. These roles can include primary producers, consumers, and detritivores. Both egrets and the heron play the same role in a food chain. However, the long legs and the beaks of egret and herons are adaptive for their ecological niche as well as their feeding behaviour. These are more comprehensive compared to other adaptive features.
