JAMB - Chemistry (2004 - No. 39)

Oxyacetylene flame is used for iron-welding because it
Makes the iron metals solidify very quickly
Combines with oxygen to give a pop sound
Evolves a lot of heat when burnt
Dissociates to produce carbon (IV) oxide and oxygen

설명

Oxyacetylene flames are used for welding iron because they produce a very high temperature that melts the iron. The flame produced by oxyacetylene is very hot, reaching temperatures of around 3,100°C. This is hot enough to melt steel, which has a melting point of over 1,500°C.
