The volume of a given gas is V cm\(^3\) at a pressure P mm Hg. what is the new volume of the gas if the pressure is reduced to half at constant temperature?
4 V cm3
2 V cm3
V/2 cm3
V cm3

説明

Given:

V\(_1\) = V cm\(^3\) P\(_1\) = P mmHg  V\(_2\) = ? P\(_2\) =  \(\frac{P}{2}\) At constant temperature ⇒ Boyle's Law

P\(_1\)V\(_1\) = P\(_2\)V\(_2\)

V\(_2\) = \(\frac{{P_1}{V_1}}{P_2}\)

  = \(\frac{{P}\times{V}\times {2}}{P}\)

V\(_2\) = 2V
