Growth hormone, also called somatotropin, peptide hormone secreted by the anterior lobe of the pituitary gland. The pituitary gland is located in the brain, between the hypothalamus and the pineal gland, just behind the bridge of the nose. Hence, the growth hormone is secreted by the head region.
