WAEC - Government (2017 - No. 12)

The principle of checks and balances is important because it
prevents each organ of government from being dictatorial
frees other organs from judicial control
makes the organs confront themselves
makes the government to perform it civic responsibilities

Explication

The system of checks and balances is an important part of the Constitution. With checks and balances, each of the three branches of government can limit the powers of the others. Each branch “checks” the power of the other branches to make sure that the power is balanced between them.
