A piece of stone attached to one end of a string is whirled round in a horizontal circle and the string suddenly cuts. The stone will fly off in a direction

perpendicular to the circular path

parallel to the circular path

tangential to the circular path

towards the center of the circle

Explication

AS the stone is whirled round and te string suddenly cuts, say at A, B, C or D. The stone will fly off in the direction indicated V_A, V_B, V_C or V_D respectively which is tangential to the circular path
