The angular dispersion of a prism mainly depends upon the refractive index of a material. this refractive index is dependent on the wavelength of light. Each colour possesses its characteristics and the wavelength is also different. There is a relation between the refractive index of a material and the wavelength of light, the higher the wavelength of the colour, the greater the dispersion of light.
