Styrene is produced from the monomer ethylbenzene through a process called dehydrogenation, where hydrogen is removed from ethylbenzene to create styrene; dehydrogenation of ethylbenzene, a compound obtained by reacting ethylene and benzene. However, ethylene is also known as ethene.
