While the police are involved in enforcing the law, prosecuting lawbreakers, protecting life and property, and maintaining law and order, they are not responsible for public execution. Public executions, if legal and authorized, are typically carried out by designated executioners or personnel specifically tasked with that responsibility, not by the police. Therefore, public execution of lawbreakers would not be part of police functions.
