For democracy to be sustained, the electorate must be knowledgeable about political issues, candidates and the functioning of the government. An informed electorate can make wise decisions during elections and ensure that the democratic process remains strong and effective. Without a well-informed electorate, democracy may be vulnerable to manipulation and the influence of corrupt leaders.
