Feudalism is a form of government that is based on land ownership. The owners of the land in a feudal system are referred to as Lords and Vassals and they are at the top of the feudal hierarchy. Beneath them are Peasants and Serfs who work the land in exchange for wages, housing and security from the Lords and Vassals.
