Constitutionalism is the principle that the government must operate according to the Constitution, which establishes the rule of law and ensures the protection of human rights. Constitutionalism is the adherence to the Constitution’s provisions, including those that guarantee fundamental rights and liberties. It emphasises that all actions of the government are subject to legal constraints and that human rights are upheld through constitutional guarantees.
